Fríða Björk Gylfadóttir or "Fríða" as she is called, lives in Siglufjörður with her husband and son.

She grew up in Reykjavík and has been drawing and creating ever since she can remember.

As a kid she took courses at an artschool which opened the doors to more creativity.
In 1979, then 14years old, she play a leading role in tv series made after the story "Paradise reclaimed" by Halldór Laxness. This was a great experience for Fríða and gave her a whole new vision of life.

About the same time Fríða started making hats with pretty good results. They were done with her great grandmother in mind, who owned a hatshop in Reykjavík in the 1950´s.

After moving to Siglufjörður, Fríða started drawing and painting again, after a long break. Life out in the country gave a new and greater energy and her work grew in numbers and diversity. Her first studio opened in 2003. In 2006 openend her current studio at Túngata 40a, Siglufirði.
